The compatibility of Apple devices and how to support touch screen?

There are four types of devices commonly used for connecting to portable monitors: iPhone, iPad, Macbook, and Mac Mini.

The compatibility of Apple devices and how to support touch screen?

iPhone and IPad

  • iPhones and iPads that use Apple's Lightning interface can only be connected to the portable monitor through a co-screen cable or a wireless co-screen adapter. The portable monitor requires an external power supply:
  1. Unable to activate monitor touchscreen functionality
  2. When the iPhone and iPad are in landscape orientation, the portable monitor content can be displayed in landscape orientation.
  3. When the iPhone and iPad are in portrait orientation, only portable monitors with gravity sensors can display in portrait orientation.
  • New iPads using the Type-C interface can use the one-line type-c to type-c cable communication function. After upgrading to iPad OS16, the Stage Manager function can be activated, which is similar to the computer mode of Android phones, but the touch screen cannot be used. Some keyboard models can use the keyboard.

MacBook and Mac Mini (Mac OS for computers)

  • The Type-C interfaces of the Mac series are all equipped with Thunderbolt 3 and higher, and all support one-line type-c to type-c cable communication.
  • Older Macbooks are equipped with a mini DP interface. If you need to activate the touch function of the display, you need to connect 3 cables, namely power, signal source (mini DP), and touch (USB-A to USB-C)
  • Only some models support single-touch on Mac OS, and models with heavy force sensors support touch after vertical screen rotation.
  • Although the output power of Apple devices is high and it can normally drive the display through a single type-c to type-c cable, it is still recommended to use an external power supply, especially for 4K, which requires high input power.
  • Can the portable touch monitor be touched after it is connected to a Macbook? (1)When the Macbook version is macOS Mojave 10.14 or older, all touch screen models can implement touch screens (2)In versions after macOS Mojave 10.14, the device system has upgraded the protection protocol, and only a few models support Apple touch.
  • Why can't I draw with the touch pen on my monitor?  Ordinary touch screens support multi-touch, such as drag and drop, multi-finger sliding, and zooming (Macbook and Mac OS only support single-touch), whether using fingers or the Stylus stylus, but do not support writing, drawing, and other functions.
  • Why can’t I touch a monitor with a touch function when it is displayed in portrait/portrait mode? Or is the touch off? The monitor itself does not have a gravity sensor, and the resolution changes when the computer is set to rotate the display vertically; the pixels of the touch screen and the display are offset and cannot be recognized; the monitor with a gravity sensor is rotated by the monitor itself, and the hardware has occurred. Change, so you can touch;
  • Why does Wifi not work after connecting the portable monitor on the Macbook Pro? This is a current shock caused by reverse charging after both the computer and monitor are powered; the laptop does not need to be connected to the power supply;
